St Joseph's Indian Institutions Alumni/Ae Association (SJIIAA)

The Old Boys Association (OBA), now known as the St Joseph's Indian Institutions Alumni/Ae Association (SJIIAA), was established in 1928 and has played a key role in shaping the institution’s journey. Many alumni have returned as teachers and administrators, while others have supported the institution through scholarships, infrastructure development, and student mentorship.

Under the visionary leadership of successive Rectors and Principals, St. Joseph’s Indian High School (SJIHS) has grown tremendously and earned numerous accolades. However, the school’s most significant achievement is nurturing thousands of men and women who are making an impact across the globe.

“The greatest strength of SJIHS lies in its alumni, who have become torchbearers of excellence in every walk of life.”

Our school has been guided by legendary principals such as Fr. Joseph Coelho, Fr. William Picardo, Fr. Albert Saldanha, Fr. Edwin Fernandes, Fr. James Coelho, Fr. J. B. Frank, Fr. Valerian Farias, Fr. Denis Coelho, Fr. Sunith Prabhu, and Fr. Dennis Rasquinha, among others. We honor and draw continued inspiration from their legacy.

Founded in 1904 on Museum Road, the school eventually moved to its current campus. A hallmark of SJIHS has been the close bond it fosters between students, parents, and alumni. It was one of the first institutions to recognize and promote this triad partnership for holistic student development.

Over the last 90+ years, our alumni have made their mark across society—as educators, defense officers, entrepreneurs, social leaders, technologists, sportspersons, doctors, engineers, accountants, and beyond. With over 100,000 alumni, their contributions to society and the nation are a proud testament to the values instilled at SJIHS.

The timeless motto of the institution, “Fide et Labore” (Faith and Toil), continues to inspire our alumni to walk the path of purpose, leadership, and service.
